Lake Rotoiti Hot Pools are geothermal hot pools on Lake Rotoiti, that have been soothing deserving muscles for over 165 years. Surrounded by nature and crystal clear lake water you'll instantly feel relaxed. There are 6 pools to choose from, all at varying temperatures, so you can find the perfect one.
For a quick cool down, take a dip in New Zealand’s biggest plunge pool; Lake Rotoiti. A dip in the bracing, clear water is something not to be missed. Or, if a bite to eat, cold drink or a cheeky wine or beer are more to your taste, the Hot Pool’s Cafe has you covered. You can even bring your own picnic!
A beautiful cruise to the Hot Pools awaits. We cross Lake Rotorua through the Ohau Channel to Lake Rotoiti, where the entrance is a fraction wider than our water taxi. The shallow water, shifting sandbanks and meandering river lends itself as home to a menagerie of wildlife. Once through the channel the expansive view of Lake Rotoiti is a spectacle to behold as we sight the Hot Pools.
In the summer months (Oct - Dec) Ohau Channel can become too low for the water taxi and we'll take you across on one of our jetboats. Children 5-15 years old are welcome and Infants under 5 years old are FREE. Life jackets and spray jackets are provided.
